Kalabhairava Ashtakam
People in the West might have a hard time with this aspect of divinity, these faces of destruction. Actually, it is the destruction of ignorance that Shiva, or Kali, or any of these destroyer Gods and Goddesses, are doing. Shiva is destroying our obsession and attachment to form, which is pure ignorance, because all forms are being destroyed by time anyhow. Instead of focusing on forms, Shiva wants us to focus on the Permanent, that which is beyond all forms.
